SKT Telecom announced that it will finish the 2G service in Seoul City last time at 00:00 tomorrow (27th).

SK Telecom ended the 2G service in Gangwon-do, Gyeongsang-do, and Sejong-si on July 6, and metropolitan cities such as Daegu, Daejeon and Busan on the 13th and Gyeonggi and Incheon on the 20th.

After the 2G service is over, it will not be possible to receive or send on the existing 2G mobile phone.

SK Telecom operates a support program until July 26, 2022 for the conversion of existing 2G subscribers, but if 2G subscribers switch to 3G, LTE, or 5G, the current 011 and 017 numbers must be replaced with 010 numbers.

However, subscribers who wish to keep their existing number can use their current number until June next year.

Nevertheless, the backlash from consumers following the end of the service continues.

Previously, about 400 users of 01X filed a petition for provisional disposition of SK Telecom 2G service termination, but the court dismissed it on the 21st.

However, 01X users are also conducting an administrative litigation regarding the cancellation of SK Telecom's 2G service closing approval for the Ministry of Science and ICT.

It is known that members of the 010 Integrated Anti-Government Movement Headquarters will file a'number transfer claim lawsuit' against the SK Telecom.

They continue to rally and protest, saying that the Ministry of Science and ICT should review the 010 integrated policy at its origin.

As of June 1, SK Telecom 2G subscribers reached 384,000.
