A report issued by the sector of registration and commercial licensing in the Dubai economy showed that five regions acquired 43.7% of the total 16,826 new business licenses issued during the first half of 2020.

According to the report, "Al Garhoud" topped the regions, accounting for 15% of the total new licenses issued, followed by the "Burj Khalifa" area with 12%, then the "Oud Al Muteena III" area 6.5%, while the "first trade center" ranked fourth. It accounted for 5.2%, and the “Oud Metha” region ranked fifth with 4.8%.

Dubai Economy pointed out that this data reflects the importance of these regions as the most attractive sites for business in the emirate during the first half of 2020.

Al Garhoud

The report pointed out that Al Garhoud attracted 2535 new licenses, and professional activity acquired the largest percentage of the total number of active licenses in this region, which number 12 thousand and 192 active licenses.

The number of licenses classified within the professional category reached 6096 licenses, representing 50% of the total licenses, followed by commercial licenses with 5940 licenses, a 48.7% increase.

According to the report, the percentage of businessmen in Al Garhoud reached 97%, the percentage of women business owners reached 2.2%, and companies reached 0.8%.

Regarding the most prominent legal forms of active licenses, licenses of limited liability companies came first with 5,758 licenses, followed by civil works with 4,102 licenses, then "individual institution" that registered 1820 licenses.

Burj Khalifa area

As for the region of “Burj Khalifa”, it attracted 2022 new licenses during the first half of 2020, while the total number of active licenses in this region reached 21 thousand and 941 licenses, and the percentage of licenses within the commercial category reached 59.6%, and professional activity licenses 38.3%.

The Dubai Economy stated that the percentage of businessmen in this region reached 95.3%, compared to 2.8% for businesswomen and 1.9% for companies.

In terms of legal form, licenses of limited liability institutions were topped first with 12 thousand and 720 licenses, followed by individual institution with 4231 licenses, then "civil works" with 3201 licenses.

The Dubai Economy stated that the figures confirm the interest of businessmen in the “Al Garhoud” area as one of the five main areas during the first half of this year, being the most attractive to them, as it is part of old Dubai, as it is organized with several sub-complexes, whether commercial or It is located next to Dubai International Airport, and a few minutes away from the “City Center Deira” and “Dubai Festival City Mall”.

As for the "Burj Khalifa" area, it is part of "Downtown Dubai", and a tourist destination, in addition to being a multicultural region that brings together the best of both the Arab and Western worlds, and offers everything new and contemporary.
