A new conversion bonus system will be put in place from August 3, to follow on from that introduced as part of the automobile support plan, the Ministry of Ecological Transition announced on Saturday.

The exceptional conversion bonus of the recovery plan, put in place in June to help builders sell off their unsold stocks during containment, was successful since the 200,000 bonuses planned will have been granted by the end of July. For the rest, “in order to allow the greatest number of households to benefit from this measure, all vehicles classified as Crit'air 3 or older will remain eligible for scrapping (namely petrol vehicles registered before 2006 and vehicles diesel registered before 2011) ”, specifies the ministry.

A special effort in favor of the poorest households

The premium scale will however be that which prevailed before the support plan, with a particular effort in favor of the most modest households, we add. The exceptional bonus provided for 3,000 euros for a petrol or diesel car and 5,000 euros for an electric one.

According to the new system, individuals will receive 2,500 to 5,000 euros (depending on their income), for the purchase of an electric or plug-in hybrid vehicle. This will be 1,500 to 3,000 euros for a Crit'Air 1 or 2 vehicle. Eligibility for the premium for the conversion of the conversion of a heat engine into an electric motor is also reinforced, in the same way as the purchase of an electric vehicle. The State surcharge of up to 1,000 euros is also maintained when the beneficiary lives or works in a “low emission zone” (ZFE) and similar aid has been granted by the local authority concerned.
