Indicator Seat - DR

According to Seat, nearly 70% of drivers use their turn signals incorrectly. This is much more than the 55% of users who say they forget to activate the indicators before overtaking or changing direction, a figure presented by the observatory of the French motorway company.

The French do (still) less well than the average

On a more global scale, in several countries, the Albertis Global Observatory has observed that 44% of drivers do not use their turn signals when doubling or changing lanes.

The other most common mistakes would be not using the turn signal when leaving a parking space or a roundabout. It is true that the roundabout is a special case: according to the highway code, entering a roundabout is a change of direction which should not be indicated. However, at the exit of a roundabout, the use of turn signals is mandatory because, even if putting your turn signal does not give priority, this indication allows other users to enter the roundabout more easily.
