Customer service robot Experiment at a fast food store Operation by a disabled person from home July 22 19:45

By operating a robot placed in a fast food store, a demonstration experiment will be conducted in which people who are far away will serve as customer service.

A 23-centimeter robot developed by a venture company in Minato Ward was installed at a fast-food restaurant in Shinagawa, Tokyo.

In this demonstration test, a person who has a severe physical disability living in the Kansai region operates a robot from home and listens to an order from a customer.

Hospitality will be held from 27th of this month for approximately one month, from 2 pm to 6 pm on weekdays, with the aim of expanding the employment opportunities for persons with disabilities through experiments.

We also hope to reduce the contact between employees and customers and prevent the new coronavirus from being infected.

A 23-year-old woman who operates a robot and serves customers says, ``Because it is difficult to work outside due to an intractable disease of the nervous system, it is inspiring to talk with various people through the robot. I want to work hard and work."

At Mos Food Service and the venture company that conducts experiments, we are proceeding with development so that not only customer service but also robot payment can be considered, and we are considering using it for drive-through.

Kentaro Yoshito, director of the venture company Oly Research Institute, said, "I think that if people with disabilities can work through robots, they will have more opportunities to play active roles. I would like to continue research."
