The

government said that the caterpillars from the tap water were harmless to the body, but those who use it to eat, drink, and wash the tap water every day are insecure. So, the number of people who have installed filters to filter foreign substances or buy bottled water has greatly increased.

I am a reporter.

<Reporter> This

is a large supermarket in Seoul.

Sales of new showers and filters for taps have skyrocketed in recent days.

Some products have already been sold out.

This is because the number of consumers who purchase and install products that directly filter foreign substances has increased as reports of larvae have been found in tap water.

[Citizen: It is not yet accurate to say that the larvae were found in Seoul, but you are anxious. In particular, my house has a baby… It was already sold out on the Internet, so I brought my baby in a hurry.] In a

large supermarket in Incheon where caterpillars were found in the water purification plant, sales of water supplies, such as filter showers and kitchen thinkheads, surged nearly 10 times in the past week.

Water purifier sales have also increased more than five times.

[Kim Dong-hwan/E-Mart Mokdong Branch Sales Manager: The number of people who use it has increased a lot. Due to the new'larvae problem', there are a lot of customers inquire about filter products in stores.]

Sales of related products are also increasing rapidly in online shopping malls.

The filter installed in the shower is designed to filter out impurities over 5㎛.

As water purifiers for home use can filter out substances over 0.1㎛, it is the position of water purifier companies that there is no problem in drinking if the filter replacement cycle is followed.

However, as unstable consumers seek bottled water as a substitute for tap water, sales of bottled water are also increasing rapidly.
