China News Service, July 17th. The National Energy Administration held an online press conference for the third quarter on the 17th to announce the national energy production and consumption. From the consumption side, in the second quarter, energy consumption rebounded significantly, and electricity and natural gas consumption continued The growth has already exceeded the level of the same period last year, and the consumption of refined oil has gradually recovered.

In the first quarter, the electricity consumption of the whole society decreased by 6.5% year-on-year. From April, the electricity consumption has achieved positive growth year-on-year, and the growth rate has increased month by month, from 0.7% in April to 4.6% in May and 6.1% in June In the first half of the year, the cumulative electricity consumption decreased by 1.3% year-on-year, narrowing 5.2 percentage points from the first-quarter decline.

In terms of different industries, the electricity consumption of secondary production started to pick up significantly in the second quarter, with a year-on-year increase of 1.3%, 2.9%, and 4.3% in April, May, and June, respectively, an increase of 10.2, 11.7, and 13.2 percentage points over the first quarter. Contributions to the growth of electricity consumption in the month reached 135%, 45%, and 51%, respectively, and became the main force driving the growth of electricity consumption. The electricity consumption of the tertiary industry was greatly affected by the epidemic, but the first positive growth in the year was achieved in May, with a growth rate of 3.6%. In June, the growth rate of electricity consumption was further increased to 7%; the electricity consumption of primary production and residential life has continued to grow steadily since this year, with an increase of 8.2% and 6.6% year-on-year in the first half of the year.

Gas consumption has exceeded the level of the same period last year. Natural gas consumption was relatively less affected by the epidemic. It fell slightly year-on-year in the first quarter and then steadily rebounded. The growth rate in the second quarter increased by about 4.5 percentage points from the first quarter. The trend of refined oil consumption is gradually improving, with a year-on-year decrease of about 18.7% in the first quarter. Since April, the increase in industrial operating rate and the increase in residents’ travel have driven the demand for refined oil such as gasoline and diesel. In the second quarter, the growth rate of refined oil consumption increased by about 6 percentage points.

From the production side, coal production has grown steadily. In the second quarter, coal production continued its good momentum since late March, with daily output remaining at around 10 million tons. In the first half of the year, coal output was 1.81 billion tons, a slight increase of 0.6% year-on-year. Oil and gas production continued to grow. In the first half of the year, crude oil output was 97.15 million tons, an increase of 1.7% year-on-year; natural gas output was 94 billion cubic meters, an increase of 10.3% year-on-year. Power supply is safe and stable. Power generation and power grid companies actively fulfill their social responsibilities and take effective measures to ensure the safe and stable supply of electricity for production and living. In the first half of the year, the installed power generation capacity of 6000 kW and above increased by 5.3% year-on-year. The consumption of clean energy continued to improve. The utilization rates of wind power and photovoltaic power generation reached 96.1% and 97.9% respectively, up 0.8 and 0.3 percentage points year-on-year.
