“Austria categorically rejects US plans to impose extraterritorial sanctions to prevent the construction of Nord Stream 2,” the Austrian Foreign Ministry said on Twitter.
The agency noted that it relies on direct dialogue between partners, and not on unilateral measures.
Earlier, German Foreign Minister Heiko Maas criticized US sanctions on SP-2.
As Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova emphasized, threats from the United States resemble the rhetoric of the Cold War and do not take into account the interests of European allies.
