JR East and non-life insurance giant Tokio Marine & Nichido have formed a partnership in the field of next-generation transportation services called MaaS. Joint development of new insurance for multiple transportation modes is planned.

This was announced by both companies at a press conference on the 16th.

MaS is a next-generation transportation service that smoothly moves by combining multiple transportation systems. JR East uses electronic money "Suica" and apps to collect usage fees for trains, taxis, shared bicycles, etc. We are engaged in services that can be paid.

By partnering with Tokio Marine & Nichido, we will jointly develop new insurance products that support such services.

First, an experiment that allows users to select a transportation method suitable for the situation such as a train, bus, or bicycle through a JR application instead of the so-called "substitute vehicle" arranged in the event of a car accident this winter Is to start.

At the press conference, Hideki Nemoto, Managing Director of JR East, stated, "We would like to bring together the knowledge of both companies to create new services."

Regarding the field of MaaS, Odakyu Electric Railway and Mitsui Sumitomo Insurance have formed a tie-up, and the movement for cooperation is active, including the development of new insurance.
