The major economic recovery plan, expected in the summer, will include a section exclusively devoted to construction and urban renewal, up to 4 to 5 billion, said Emmanuel Wargon Sunday. The Minister responsible for Housing was the guest of the "Grand Rendez-vous" on Europe 1.

INTERVIEW

The recovery plan for the French economy, hard hit by the Covid-19 crisis, could approach 50 billion. This is due less to the recommendation of three economists, Philippe Martin, Jean Pisani-Ferry and Xavier Ragot responsible for advising the new Prime Minister, Jean Castex, on the matter. Invited Sunday of the Grand Rendez-vous , on Europe 1, Emmanuelle Wargon, the Minister responsible for Housing with the Minister for Ecological Transition ensures, housing and ecological transition will not be left behind by this plan. "There is no contradiction between ecology and the economy," she says.

"In the recovery plan, we will be around 4 to 5 billion just for building and renovation," said the minister. "This investment is to support artisans. Renovation is not only big companies, they are also local artisans and ecology," she said.

"Household support" solutions

"On the form, it will be a lot of investment in public buildings: universities, schools, hospitals", details Emmanuelle Wargon. "But also support for households", she slips, while specifying that the modalities of this support were not yet fixed.

Emmanuelle Wargon also confirms the will of the executive to lead a low-carbon recovery. "We need responsible construction, more ecological and in places that do not consume more natural spaces", explains Emmanuelle Wargon. "Every 10 years, we consume the equivalent of a department in natural and agricultural land over which the city extends. Our goal is not to always extend the city further," she says.
