  • The cutting plan in this subsidiary of Air France, born in 2013 from the merger of the companies Brit Air, Regional and Airlinair, should reach 40% of the workforce, or just over 1,000 positions cut.
  • Several dozen employee representatives gathered on Friday morning outside the company's headquarters in Nantes.
  • In Morlaix, where 300 jobs are threatened with the closure of the site, some 150 to 200 people also gathered.

The figure is heavy and the concern immense. Several dozen employee representatives from the regional subsidiary of Air France Hop! gathered on Friday morning in front of the company's headquarters in Nantes during an extraordinary social and economic committee during which management detailed a plan to cut a thousand jobs.

The cutting plan in this subsidiary, born in 2013 from the merger of the companies Brit Air, Regional and Airlinair, should reach 40% of the workforce, or just over 1,000 jobs cut out of about 2,400 jobs, according to the unions.

Pilots, hostesses, maintenance, administrative agents, etc.

At 9 a.m., the extraordinary CSE began, to which several executives were unable to access due to the padlocked gate and a pallet fire and tires lit by the employees. The CSE ended shortly before 11 a.m. Only one employee representative entered to participate in the meeting, Joël Rondel, the secretary of the CSE (CGT). The employee representatives unanimously decided not to participate in this meeting during which the company detailed its plan, in order to protest against the “programmed disappearance” of the company.

"Today we denounce the 1,022 job cuts, we denounce the stopping of certain lines, we denounce the transfer of activity from our perimeter to Transavia [the low-cost subsidiary of Air France]", explained Joël Rondel.

" It's incomprehensible "

According to the figures communicated to the unions, the company's plan provides for 1,022 redundancies (full-time equivalent) including 328 pilots, 286 stewards and hostesses, 291 maintenance people and 119 employees in administrative support services. Two maintenance sites are expected to close, in Morlaix and Lille.

In Morlaix, where 300 jobs are threatened with the closure of the site, some 150 to 200 people had gathered since 9 am in front of the Hop site! while the CSE was held in Nantes. "The feeling there is anger," explains Valérie Scattolin, 54, elected to the CSE UNSA and environmental health and safety coordinator at the Morlaix site, for twenty-three years in the company. For her the closure of the site "it's incomprehensible, we can not understand the arguments presented. "

"We find this unacceptable, because today the activity is real, as proof, in the hangar there are two planes under maintenance, other planes are planned behind", estimates Matthieu Jolivet, production controller on the Morlaix maintenance site, for twenty years in the company.
