Airbus announced Tuesday the elimination of about 15,000 jobs, or 11% of its workforce, including 5,000 in France. The systems proposed by the State, and in particular the long-term partial activity, nevertheless make it possible to save certain jobs.

DECRYPTION

In the aeronautics sector, the economic rebound is not expected for several years. The aircraft manufacturer Airbus gave on Tuesday the extent of the historic savings plan it intends to launch. An 11% reduction in staff, with 15,000 jobs cut worldwide, a third of which in France.

In Toulouse, employees are in anxiety, but the government says that state aid should save part of the jobs. According to the Secretary of State for Transport, Jean-Baptiste Djebbari, the state aid systems would preserve 2,000 jobs.

Long-term partial activity, a viable solution?

Partial long-term activity (APLD) is particularly put in the spotlight. This measure was specially created for sectors in difficulty such as aeronautics. The idea is simple: if the company experiences a sharp drop in activity, as for Airbus which estimates that production will be down by 40%, it could reduce the working time of its employees by 40%.

"If we apply long-term partial unemployment solutions in the coming months to the production of the A320 for example, several thousand jobs can be saved," confirms the HRD of the Thierry Baril group.

"Every opportunity will allow us to move forward"

The maxim "to work less is to earn less" logically resonates with these announcements, but the State announces that it will compensate the lost wages of the employee, as is currently the case, by paying 84% of his net salary. "The government is helping us a lot with funds that allow us to develop projects that could save 500 jobs. Each opportunity will allow us to move forward," says Thierry Baril, who knows that his company will also have to respect certain commitments, jointly with the unions .
