After over a month of discussions by the labor, management and government to overcome the economic crisis brought by Corona, a tripartite agreement was created. It was even more meaningful because it was the participation of the KCTU in 22 years, but it was suddenly canceled 15 minutes ahead of the ceremony today (1st). The chairman of the KCTU was unable to attend the convention because of internal opposition.

At 8:00 am, Kim Myung-hwan, the chairman of the Democratic Trade Union Committee, was blocked from going to work.

Some members were prevented when Chairman Kim discussed his own behavior the day before and suggested that he sign an interim agreement on the provisional agreement.

The resignation request was also made.

[Kim Myung-hwan/Democratic Union Chairperson: Go in and have a meeting… . (I can't go in. Resign, right now.)]

Chairman Myung-Hwan Kim tried to hold a final meeting to ratify the agreement ahead of the 10:30 am tripartite agreement, but eventually failed to persuade him.

[Kim Myung-Hwan/Democratic Trade Union Chairperson: I admit that the judgment on the result (the tripartite agreement) may be different.]

[Kim Soo-Kuk/Non-regular Workers Now stop joint struggle: Chairman, the judgment is not different. There is nothing to dismiss... .] When

I tried to leave the conference hall, I went to goseong with the members because I wasn't going to'sign alone'.

[As chairman, arbitrarily... .]

Eventually Chairman Kim was blocked by the members and was unable to attend the meeting, and the convention was canceled 15 minutes ago.

The government and management representatives who were waiting at Prime Minister Samcheong-dong's mission had to leave without success.

[Lee Jae-gap / Minister of Employment and Labor: As for what to do in the future, gather more wisdom between the labor and management… .] The

original agreement included a declarative statement that the labor community actively cooperated with measures taken by companies to maintain employment, such as shorter working hours and suspension of business, while the business community made every effort to maintain employment.

It also included a plan to prepare a blueprint for the introduction of national employment insurance by the end of the year.

However, there were no specific measures to protect the vulnerable groups, such as non-regular workers, from banning dismissal.
