In the space of four years, 28,000 people have been trained by the Grande Ecole du Numérique, a network of 500 training courses available throughout France, who have been able to find a large majority of jobs. Following the example of Arnaud, until then a cook, who was hired quickly despite the coronavirus.

REPORTAGE

As the government prepares a major plan to support youth employment, digital technology does not seem to be suffering too much from the economic shock linked to the coronavirus. Thus, the sector still presents significant employment prospects, especially for new entrants to the labor market. It is from this observation that the Grande Ecole du Numérique was created four years ago: a network of 500 training courses, accessible from anywhere in the territory and intended for young people (with or without a diploma) and people looking for retraining.

Europe 1 met Arnaud, a young cook who has successfully converted to digital.

From CAP to digital cooking

From stoves to digital: Arnaud dreamed of it ... and he did it! With a cook's CAP in his pocket, he worked four years in catering. He didn't mind, but IT had been itching for ages. He first tackled it alone in his corner, until this online training offered by the Grande Ecole du numérique.

"As an autodidact, I did not feel the legitimacy to apply for offers, and I had in my opinion a lack of tools", he testified at the microphone of Europe 1. "By doing a training with the school, I had a return with my teachers on the real job, which allowed me to tell myself that I was legitimate to apply for this kind of jobs. "

A developer position in 6 months

Less than six months later, not yet a graduate, the hands-on cook found a job as a web developer. The company that recruits him is not two years old, but loads of orders for his digital terminals, his distributors and connected fridges and his "click and collect" software (buy the product online and pick it up in the store) .

Arnaud was hired in full confinement, his interviews were done remotely. "It is true that this is a sector which makes it possible to be able to find work, even when blocked at home," notes the young man. And now everything will go very quickly: he leaves his native Ardèche in a few days to start his new life 300 km away, in Haute Savoie. It will be July 1st.
