Security Council warns Israel of West Bank annexations

In New York, the monthly Security Council meeting on the Middle East peace process took a special turn a week before the July deadline set by the Israeli government for the annexation of parts of the West Bank . Governments around the world were at the table of the Security Council to speak directly to Israel, and have expressed their frustration at the entanglement of this peace process.

American Ambassador Nikki Haley explained that she no longer believed in the status quo and defended the more “ pragmatic  ” American plan for the Middle East  , which encourages annexations but is only a starting point for negotiations, a- she assured. The European Council countries as well as the United Kingdom have warned Israel of reprisals for annexation, but have not specified them.
