The Palestinian Authority organized a large rally this Monday evening June 22 in Jericho to protest against Israeli plans to annex part of the West Bank. Many foreign diplomats also came to support the thousands of Palestinians present, and to express their opposition to the Israeli plans.

"  No Palestinian State without the Jordan Valley  ", "  International law is clear. Here is Palestine.  So many slogans brandished on placards by several thousand people. But for Saëb Erekat, number two in the Palestine Liberation Organization, the main victory was not popular mobilization.

"  Today we witnessed an unprecedented event," says Saëb Erekat. Today the world has come to us and it has told us that we are not alone. They are with us in the fight for freedom, dignity and justice.  "

The first diplomat invited to speak was the United Nations Special Coordinator for the peace process. Describing the possible annexation as a violation of international law, Nikolay Mladenov called on other diplomats to act "  without losing a second  " in order to thwart this project. And he wanted to send a message of hope to the Palestinians.

Message to Benyamin Netanyahu and Donlad Trump

"  You're not renting a house here, it's your house," said Nikolay Mladenov. People of Palestine, do not despair, do not give up. Never give up because peace is the reason for our presence here. Peace, peace, peace!  "

For more than an hour, a rare succession of ambassadors took place on the platform. The representatives of the European Union , Russia, China, Japan and Jordan spoke. For Saëb Erekat, 48 countries and international organizations were represented. A message to "  Netanyahu and Trump  ", he judges: "  Facing them, there is international law.  "
