The 8-digit reflective film license plate with good visibility with high light reflectance will be introduced from next month.

The anti-counterfeiting effect has also been increased by adding the national symbol pattern, Taegeuk, English national code'KOR', and hologram design to the reflective film-type license plate.

The Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport announced that in September of last year, after the car number system was reorganized from 7 to 8 digits, an 8-digit reflective film number plate will be introduced from next month.
The new license plate has a number of new design elements based on the blue color on the left.

First, in the upper left, the national symbol emblem, which is a forgery-prevention hologram, is in the center of the Taegeuk pattern in the upper left, and the Korean alphabet,'KOR', is in the lower left.

This design is not easy to imitate, so it seems to help prevent license plate forgery problems such as unregistered and cannon cars.

At the same time, a retroreflective film is attached to the newly introduced license plate.

When the light from the headlight of the vehicle shines on the license plate, it is reflected back to the driver, so it has the advantage of easily recognizing the license plate.

In addition to the new registration, the new license plate can be replaced by an existing 7-digit license plate holder as well as an 8-digit license plate by visiting the vehicle registration office.

Film or paint number plates are also available.

As of the end of last month, there are 2,3,714 facilities nationwide that operate vehicle number recognition cameras such as public buildings, shopping malls, and apartments.

The Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport has completed the improvement work so that 98.3% of them can recognize the 8-digit vehicle number.
