Zoom Video Communications, the visual communication services company, said today that it intends to encrypt video calls from one party to another with all its free and paid services to users, and to launch a trial version in July.
In order to prevent misuse, the company said this feature would only allow users who provide a trusted phone number.
The California-based company initially intended to boost encryption for customers who pay for its services only.
The company has attracted millions of customers who pay or not during the outbreak of the Coronavirus, which forced people to work from home, but faced criticism for privacy and security issues.
Zoom is also criticized for not disclosing that its services are not fully encrypted from end to end.
Taiwan and Germany have imposed restrictions on using Zoom, while SpaceX has banned its owner Elon Musk because of security concerns.
