Meng Wei said that the National Bureau of Statistics released data for May yesterday. Judging from the data, as my country’s epidemic prevention and control achieved major strategic results, the economic and social order in May resumed in an orderly manner, and the main economic indicators continued to improve. Specific can be seen from the following sets of data:
First, production supply continued to rise. In May, the added value of industrial enterprises above designated size increased by 4.4% year-on-year, and the growth rate accelerated by 0.5 percentage points from the previous month. The growth rate of the service industry production index changed from negative to positive, from a decrease of 4.5% in April to an increase of 1%.
Second, the recovery of domestic demand is more obvious. From the perspective of consumption, market sales are gradually picking up. The total retail sales of consumer goods fell by 2.8% in May, but the decline narrowed by 4.7 percentage points from the previous month. From the perspective of investment, the decline in investment continued to narrow, with fixed asset investment falling by 6.3% in the first five months, a decrease of 4 percentage points from the previous four months. In terms of exports, exports denominated in RMB increased by 1.4% in May this year.
Third, employment and prices are generally stable. The unemployment rate in the national urban survey in May was 5.9%, a decrease of 0.1 percentage point from the previous month, and prices were basically stable. As I have just mentioned, the CPI in May rose 2.4% year-on-year, which is somewhat lower than before.
Fourth, market expectations remain stable, which is also a very important point. In May, the manufacturing purchasing managers index was 50.6%, and the non-manufacturing business activity index was 53.6%. Both of these indices are above the gloom line for three consecutive months.
At the same time, we also see that the global epidemic situation and the world economic situation are still complex and severe, and the impact and impact on China's economic development are still emerging; domestic sporadic cases still exist, which may affect residents' confidence and services to a certain extent. Recovery.
Meng Wei pointed out that the next step will be to effectively implement the tasks of the Central Economic Work Conference and the "Government Work Report" in accordance with the decisions and deployment of the Party Central Committee and the State Council. At present, the focus is on the outstanding issues in the economic operation, to do a good job of the "six stability" work, fully implement the "six guarantees" task, the focus is to do a good job in three aspects:
First, vigorously tap the potential to release domestic demand.
