Some airlines can handle free refunds for recent flights to and from Beijing

Beijing News (Reporter Pei Jianfei) Yesterday (June 16) evening, Beijing held the 121st conference of the New Crown Epidemic Prevention and Control. Chen Bei, deputy secretary-general of the Beijing Municipal Government, announced at the meeting that the response level for public health emergencies in Beijing would be raised from three levels to two levels on June 16. In addition, the reporter was informed that at present, many airlines, including Air China and HNA, have provided a fee-free refund service for flights to and from Beijing.

The reporter learned that several provinces across the country have issued policies to isolate people from Beijing. As the Dragon Boat Festival holiday is approaching, many citizens who have previously purchased flights departing from Beijing urgently need to change their itinerary to handle the refund service. The reporter learned from the customer service offices of Air China and China Southern Airlines that there are currently no refund fees for some Beijing-related flights. However, the reporter also understands that there are still some airlines that have not issued a policy of "refund of refund fees" for the Beijing route. In addition, the official website of the Civil Aviation Administration of China has not issued relevant regulations.

The customer service staff of Air China stated that before the ticket purchase date was before June 15 and the travel date was between June 16 (including 16 days) and June 30 (including 30 days), the refund was requested before the flight took off. Refund processing fees are waived.

The customer service staff also said that if you need to meet one of the following four conditions to apply for a fee-free refund, and you can provide a screenshot or written proof of the information, you can apply for a fee-free refund before the flight takes off. But it is required to submit the application from wherever you buy the ticket. In addition, if the application is made after the flight takes off, the corresponding fee will be deducted.

In the first case, when the passenger submits the application, the health status of the passenger on the day displayed on the Beijing Healthbao applet is "centralized observation" or "home observation".

In the second case, when a passenger submits an application, the itinerary card for the passenger on the day shown on the mini-program epidemic prevention itinerary card of the State Council client is a red card, an orange card or a yellow card.

In the third case, when submitting an application, the passenger can provide written proof that the passenger himself has been quarantined for medical observation, or home observation, or is living in a high-risk area in Beijing.

In the fourth case, according to the requirements of the destination's epidemic prevention policy, passengers traveling from Beijing to the place need to implement isolation and other epidemic prevention measures.

Last night, the reporter called China Southern Airlines customer service to apply for the refund service. After checking the reporter's booking information, the staff said that due to the Beijing epidemic prevention and control reasons, they can apply for free refunds, but they said that the specific refund information should still be based on the review results, they will review as soon as possible, and the ticket payment Return the same way. The reporter noticed that about 5 minutes after the reporter applied for the refund, one of the tickets for the round-trip flight was already returned to the payment account.

According to the customer service staff of China Southern Airlines, passengers need to meet the following two conditions to apply for a fee-free refund: First, the date of ticket purchase is before June 14, and second, the date of travel is between June 14 and June 30. Special handling of Beijing route, application for voluntary refund, no handling fee. The customer service staff also said that at present, special refunds for the prevention and control of the Beijing epidemic can only be handled by manual customer service telephones. The actual success of the application depends on the actual review. The website and APP do not support this business for the time being.

As of now, except for Air China and China Southern which are the first to introduce a fee-free refund service for "Beijing Epidemic Prevention and Control Reasons", many other airlines have not yet publicly stated their position.
