Manufacturer Ford is currently recalling nearly 2.2 million of its vehicles in the United States, according to information from CNN. The manufacturer noticed that some of its vehicles were victims of a door defect: they could open when the car is on the road.

A part of the door lock system is the cause of this failure. This would be able to crack in case of hot weather. Ford acknowledged that the problem was already known but that some dealers who had repaired it in 2015 and 2016 had done it wrong, or worse, hadn't done it at all.

No injuries or incidents according to Ford

The manufacturer is therefore forced to recall several models built between 2011 and 2016: Ford Fiesta, Focus, Fusion, C-Max and Mustang, Escape SUVs, Transit Connect vans, as well as Lincoln MKZ sedans and MKC SUVs, lists the CNN. A database has been put online to allow Ford owners to see if they are affected by the problem.

Numerous complaints concerning unexpected door openings have been identified in the country, according to data from the US federal agency responsible for road safety. The number of cases involving Ford has not been released. The company assured, however, that this defect had not injured anyone.
