<Anchor> When the

5G terminal first came out last year, it has been pointed out that every mobile operator spends illegal subsidies to join more people. It was confirmed that the Korea Communications Commission, which investigated it, is planning to impose a fine of 70 billion won, the largest ever recorded by three mobile communication companies.

<Reporter> With the

launch of 5G smartphones in April of last year, the competition for subsidies of three mobile telecommunications companies was overheated.

The so-called minus phone, which charges taxis beyond the free phone, has also appeared.

[○○ Agency mobile phone salesperson (Last April): This is the card (discount), the carrier (subsidy), and this is the rest of us (subsidy). Then, the charge is 0 won.] The Korea

Communications Commission recently completed an investigation that has brought about illegal subsidies for almost a year, but plans to impose a minimum penalty of KRW 70 billion on three mobile carriers such as SK Telecom, KT, and LG U+. It was confirmed.

It is the largest in 6 years since the implementation of the Dantong Act after KRW 58.4 billion in 2014.

As for the fine, SKT has the largest market share, and KT and LG U+ have reported similar levels.

A senior official from the Korea Communications Commission explained, "The scale may be somewhat adjusted through opinion views, but the'highest level in history' will not change."

The investigation was found to have started when LG U+, which had been competing for illegal subsidies, reported rivals SKT and KT to the Korea Communications Commission.

It seems that LG U+ was trying to break the board at all because it could not overcome the burden of the bleeding competition.

An official from LG U Plus explained, "It was to resolve the situation where consumers were discriminated because the market was overheated at the time."

The KCC decides the final sanctions level and the amount of fines at the overall meeting early next month.
