While the French are currently booking their summer holidays, most often in France, tourism professionals are recruiting their staff. And if the deadlines are short, we don't worry about the availability of the workforce. 

After long weeks of uncertainty due to the confinement and the coronavirus epidemic, the tourism sector is getting a little more color for the summer. According to a BVA-Entreprises du Voyage survey released on Monday, a total of 59% of French people plan to go on vacation this summer, and more than 80% will opt for France. For their part, tourism professionals are therefore starting to organize themselves and recruit their seasonal workers.

Recruitment is late. And all the professionals say it: we will have to work twice as hard. In campsites, for example, "it's been heating up" since we knew the operating conditions for this summer. It must be said that the sector needs 40,000 seasonal workers.

For July-August, "we have all the pool of students"

But whether in campsites or in restaurants, we are not worried about the workforce, because there is no shortage, says Nicolas Dayot, president of the National Federation of outdoor accommodation. "The social context is a bit complicated. The number of unemployed has already increased. And indeed, some people who easily found work will be able to help us carry out our activities, our activities within the campsites," he explains to microphone from Europe 1.

"As soon as the season is shortened, since we will not have had any activity in the spring, it is much easier to recruit staff when we focus on the months of July and August, since we have the entire pool of students, "he continues.

In catering, however, we plan to recruit a little less this year, and especially to bet on known profiles. Concretely, this means that a restaurateur will hire a server as a priority that he has already made work.
