It is noted that the parties "discussed pressing issues of bilateral cooperation between Russia and Belarus in the gas sector."

Earlier, the Ministry of Energy of Belarus stated that a letter was sent to the Russian company Gazprom with proposals on the terms of gas supplies in 2020.

At the end of May, Gazprom Chairman Alexei Miller announced that the Russian company would be ready to begin negotiations on gas supplies to Belarus in 2021 after resolving the issue with the country's debt. According to him, the amount of “Belarusian debt” is $ 165 million.

In turn, the Ministry of Energy of Belarus stated that the Belarusian side had no debt for imported natural gas.
