Zero orders in May for the Airbus flagship. This (non) figure alone reflects the incredible cyclone in which the coronavirus health crisis plunged the aeronautical sector by permanently nailing almost the entire world fleet of planes on the ground.

In France, 200,000 direct jobs are concerned and as many indirect jobs, including 100,000 threatened in the short term with major contractors and subcontractors. This is why after tourism and the automobile, the state flies this Tuesday to the rescue of this strategic sector. From Bercy, Bruno Le Maire, the Minister of the Economy announces "the state of emergency" and, above all, a support plan of 15 billion euros.

Multiplication of innovation support funds

This huge envelope supposed to counter "the terrible brutality" of the consequences of the Covid-19 is aimed in particular at the airlines which will be able to obtain the guarantee of the State to pay their planes only at the end of 18 months instead of 6 currently.

The Minister of the Economy confirmed the maintenance of a long-term partial unemployment scheme. He also wants to save "a generation" of 35,000 engineers. The State will therefore multiply funds to support innovation. To clear the horizon of the sector, he wants in particular to make France the pioneer country of "carbon neutral aircraft".
