The new Jeep Compass is now produced in Melfi, Italy, in a factory of the Fiat group, holder of the Jeep brand. A decision which, according to the manufacturer, makes it possible to respond more quickly to growing customer demand, by reducing the delivery time to around 3 weeks from factory production. Until now, the models intended for the European market were manufactured in Mexico.
This change in production site was accompanied by a few modifications for the SUV, notably the adoption of a new 1.3l turbo petrol engine of 130 or 150 horsepower. The most powerful version is associated with a six-speed automatic transmission. This engine will also be the basis of the plug-in hybrid system that will equip the imminent 4Xe version. If these first renewed Compass are strict traction, Jeep does not deny its DNA, a real all-terrain Trail Hawk version also being on the program for the coming months.
The other changes are more discreet: new rim designs, enhanced connected services, etc.
What extend the success of the Compass which is, since its launch, one of the bestsellers of the brand.
