Global Life Report 2020: Hong Kong is still the most expensive city in the world, with North, Shanghai and Shenzhen ranking among the top ten in the world

Sino-Singapore Online, June 5th (Reporter Li Jiajia) The world-renowned commercial real estate services and investment company CB Richard Ellis released the Global Life Report 2020 on the 5th. In Asia, Hong Kong is still the most expensive city in the world. Shanghai, Shenzhen and Beijing have once again ranked among the top ten in the world in terms of average residential prices, ranking fourth, fifth and sixth. New York and Lisbon topped the list of residential rents and rent growth, respectively.

This is the sixth consecutive year that CB Richard Ellis released the Global Life Report, which comprehensively compares and interprets the housing market data and development trends of 2019 in 39 key cities around the world. These cities are like Hong Kong, Sydney, Lisbon, London, New York, Singapore, Beijing, Moscow, Rome, Toronto, Los Angeles, Shenzhen, Shanghai, Dublin, Madrid, Bangkok, Paris, Chicago, Dubai, Bangalore, Berlin, Cairo, Mumbai, Munich, etc. The survey results show that 31 of the 39 markets recorded an increase in residential prices, but the average increase was only about half of the level of the previous year. The report pointed out that the general slowdown in price growth also reflects to a certain extent that the property market has gradually stabilized after the implementation of various cooling measures, and the trend of excessively rapid housing price increases has been effectively suppressed.

The survey results of the residential rental market show that New York, Abu Dhabi and Hong Kong are still the three cities with the highest monthly rents in the world. Four of the top ten most expensive city lists are occupied by Middle Eastern cities.

In addition to housing-related prices, the report also surveyed some daily consumption data. For example, the price of a cup of coffee in Shenzhen, Beijing, and Shanghai is around US$4.30, ranking seventh to ninth in the "coffee list," which is less than US$1 away from the top-ranked Dubai. From the perspective of fitness membership fees, Shanghai has the highest price among the three cities in the Mainland, ranking the 11th in the world with US$53.64 per month. In addition, Beijing, Shanghai, and Shenzhen three mid-range restaurants cost two people $28.60, which is outside the 28th place on the list, and the price is less than one-third of the top New York.
