Strongly impacted by the coronavirus epidemic and containment, many craftsmen and business leaders have decided to give up their summer vacations to make up as much as possible for their loss of turnover.

REPORTAGE

Despite the possibilities offered by deconfinement, not all French people will go on vacation. For many artisans, severely impacted by the coronavirus epidemic and containment, and who are now slowly resuming, the summer period will rather be an opportunity to compensate for the shortfall, by continuing their activity as much as possible.

With confinement, Gaël lost 25% of his annual turnover. The business manager has therefore decided to give up family holidays, and will be on construction sites all summer. "It is true that 15 days or three weeks less vacation is a bit hard.;; In any case, we have no choice, we have to save the company whatever happens", he explains to the microphone of Europe 1. "There, we have work until the end of August, between the sites we are catching up with and some new ones who have arrived. Summer is going to be crucial, we are really in fight to study everything that is available to us, "he continues.

"Participate in the effort"

For these business leaders, the challenge is also to have arms to meet this demand. Some artisans had to negotiate with their employees. At Martine, esthetician, it happened naturally. "The employees have offered to postpone their vacations by themselves. They want to save their jobs," she assured Europe 1. And to conclude: "It is a way of participating in the effort that I did by putting them in partial activity. They respond to that by responding to the needs. "
