The declaration worries its 400 employees. The Foundry of Brittany (FDB), based in Caudan (Morbihan), "has no vocation" to remain within the Renault group, said Sunday the president of the French manufacturer Jean-Dominique Senard during the Grand Jury RTL-Le Figaro -LCI, after the group announced a savings plan this week.

"It was clearly said that we were going to open a strategic analysis on this company, and therefore among the solutions that we are going to discuss (...) the sale is part of it," added the president of Renault.

Parts for the automotive industry

In difficulty, the French manufacturer announced a savings plan of more than 2 billion euros over three years, which provides for 4,600 job cuts out of 48,000 in France, and more than 10,000 outside France.

Established since 1965 in Caudan, the Foundry of Brittany produces raw and machined foundry parts for the automotive industry, essentially for Renault which had taken it over in 2009. But with the evolution of engines, in particular the development of electric vehicles will need less and less cast steel in the future, explained Jean-Dominique Senard.

Friday, the director of the Brittany Foundry Laurent Galmard wanted to reassure his employees by saying that the foundry will not close.
