The government will reinforce the ceiling on the costs of banking incidents for the most destitute at a time when the crisis weakens many households, announced Sunday the Minister of Economy Bruno Le Maire, while a bill on the subject will be considered at the Assembly this week.

"Can we still improve the system, in particular trigger this support faster?" My answer is yes. Can this support be more durable and extended over several months? My answer is also yes, ”said Bruno Le Maire on France 3.“ I will bring these answers (…) as early as next week to the National Assembly, ”he added.

Banks singled out

The Assembly is to consider Thursday a draft law of La France rebellious proposing a widening of the ceiling of the bank charges.

Last Thursday, the right-wing majority Senate already voted a PS bill aimed at further regulating bank charges but by considerably reducing their scope.

Today, the beneficiaries of the specific offer cannot be billed more than 20 euros per month and 200 euros per year in costs of banking incidents, and financially fragile persons not more than 25 euros per month and 250 euros per year.

But with the crisis, calls to strengthen or generalize this ceiling have multiplied, while banks have expressed reservations because of the cost for them of such a strengthening.

The latter have already been singled out for not fully respecting their commitment to enforce existing systems.
