"More than 4,000 maroilles" to support the industry hit by the health crisis linked to Covid-19. The Aisne departmental council has just announced this purchase in a press release. This sector, emblematic of the Hauts-de-France region, "has to cope with a sharp drop in orders ranging from 40% to 90% for certain operators," said the department.

The regional council had also called for regional patriotism by inviting them to eat maroilles cheese at the start of the confinement. "Cheese producers, industrialists and farmers, are not the only ones concerned because the concern for quality specific to this sector allows better remuneration of milk for a large number of breeders", he explained.

Redistributed to charities

In this context, "the Departmental Council wishes to support the entire sector by facilitating the sale of maroilles production" and thus purchased "more than 4,000 cheeses from the seven producers, industrialists and farmers, established in the Aisne ”.

These cheeses "will be redistributed to charitable associations (Food Bank, Restos du Coeur and Red Cross)", said the Departmental Council.
