Safety distance at airports, mask on board aircraft, avoiding queues in the toilets of aircraft and minimizing services on board aircraft . These are some of the measures included within the protocol approved by the airline sector to travel in Covid's time. It is mandatory and passengers who do not comply will not be able to access the airport or the plane.

The AESA (European Aviation Safety Agency), together with ECDC (European Center for Disease Prevention and Control), have published an aviation health and safety protocol related to the pandemic.

The document establishes the measures to be applied at airports and on planes , in line with the guidelines established by the European Union last week.

Brussels said, for example, that it was not necessary to maintain a safe distance inside aircraft, since they have an air filtering system (similar to that of an operating room) capable of removing particles the size of the coronavirus.

No contagions at the moment

The sector maintains that this means of transport is the safest and, in fact, according to AESA, no case of contagion on board a device has yet been reported to date.

The document establishes the security measures to be applied at airports: access will be allowed only to travelers and employees . The security distance (1.5 meters) between people will be increased, the cleanliness of the facilities will be increased and attempts will be made to use electronic alternatives to avoid contacts, such as online check-in.

In the boarding area, attempts will be made to minimize carry-on baggage. In addition, an attempt will be made to keep the safety distance at all times.

Inside the aircraft, to the information given by the crew about the security measures inside them, the instructions regarding the prevention of Covid will be added. Efforts will be made to avoid people queuing in the hallways to go to the bathroom, the service on board will be minimized, the food will be packaged.

As for the use of masks at the airport and on the plane, it is mandatory for over six years. We recommend the type of medical mask (surgical ...), which covers the mouth, nose and chin, we do not recommend homemade ones or cloth ones. The passenger must wear the masks they need for their entire trip, to change it every four hours or sooner if it gets wet.
