Reporter Kwon Aeri, a friendly economist. Reporter Kwon, in fact, it's very rare among adults who don't have this, but let's take a closer look today (21st) that the accredited certificate will be revoked in 21 years.

<Reporter>

The name that we have been entering for 21 years, called a public certificate, will disappear. When it comes to accredited certificates, the uncomfortable authentication method that we recall does not disappear right away.

In the future, however, it has been more likely to become less visible and gradually become invisible due to competition. A certified certificate is, literally, a certificate recognized by a country.

The amendment to the Digital Signature Act that passed the National Assembly yesterday no longer has a single digital certificate recognized by the country. This means that digital certificates with such status will not exist.

In the future, we can accept that the most convenient and the most secure electronic authentication method has been chosen more, and the better it turns out, the easier it will be to change the virtuous cycle.

<Anchor>

Anyway, I hate to change everything like this. I think there might be people like this, can you continue to use those who have used the existing certificate?

<Reporter>

Yes. You keep using it. Few of the places where you have used publicly recognized certificates will immediately switch to a different authentication technology.

A certified certificate will lose its official qualifications in the next six months. This certificate is, at present, an electronic certificate issued by six organizations including the Financial Settlement Service.

When an accredited certificate was first introduced in 1999, it was an advanced certificate. It is an online stamp, so to speak, that has been introduced since the late 90s, when there were situations in which online banking, including online banking, had to be certified.

There is also a law that says, "This is a seal online. So, if you happen to be stamping online, use it compulsorily." But technology always develops faster than the law.

As the accredited certificate has become an old technology, the cumbersome processes that we are familiar with, we ask you to re-install some security programs every time you do internet banking, renew it once a year, and actually act as an online seal without such a complicated process. It has become an old authentication method that can't connect properly.

In the meantime, there have been many other online authentication technologies that are much more convenient and highly secure worldwide.
People in Korea are trying to buy overseas jobs and security, but foreigners are trying to buy a Korean version of the Korean drama 'You from the Star' and buy a 'Cheonsongi Court'.

However, this official certificate has come and disappeared, but there are still quite a few people who use a simpler authentication method than the public certificate. What is it like?

<Reporter>

Yes. For the reasons mentioned above, in fact, in early 2015, the law that compulsory use of accredited certificates in online certification has already disappeared.

However, there still exist the fact that it is a certificate of a public or a country, so some places like governments and public institutions have been hesitant to move on to other authentication methods that are more efficient.

Some financial companies are not new e-financial companies, and some banks and securities companies that have been using official certificates have been using it for some reason.

In the future, the certificate that must be renewed and updated by the KFTC or Koscom is not an official certificate, so the basis for insisting on the certification law will disappear even for public institutions and private financial companies.

By the way, there are some people who are worried about the question that they may be vulnerable to security if the number of questions they keep hearing is a pin number or a simple case like this.

<Reporter>

Yes. You might think so enough, but as I said earlier, it is hard to say that a public certificate is a more strict authentication method for security.

It can also be said that the real core of the new digital signature law is not to pass on the effort to maintain the security level of the online stamp.

Certificates are renewed annually, and all new security programs are re-established to ensure the security of the country's accreditation. It is the method of the existing accredited certificate that has passed the effort of security to the user.

Whether it is iris recognition, fingerprint recognition, or drawing a pattern on a smartphone screen, the consumer is responsible for the security level from financial protection to personal information protection while making it easy for consumers to use. That's why people will keep writing.

This is a real improvement in the e-certification environment where accreditation disappears. Organizations and companies that develop and adopt the most comfortable, and most secure authentication methods will be increasingly dominant.

If you don't, you will see that it creates an environment where you lose competition and take more responsibility in accidents.
