The Emirates Nuclear Energy Corporation announced a new achievement in the project of Baraka peaceful nuclear energy stations in the Al Dhafra region in Abu Dhabi, which was to pass the fourth station to test the cold water balance efficiently, after benefiting from similar experiences in the first, second and third stations that witnessed the completion of the same test previously.

This achievement is considered an important step in the process of developing the UAE peaceful nuclear program, and a new step towards completing the completion of the fourth and final station in the Barakah peaceful nuclear energy project.

During the cold water balance test, the pressure level in the fourth station systems was raised by 25% higher than the pressure level during normal operation, in order to verify that all cooling, conduction, piping and high pressure systems in the reactor meet the highest safety and quality standards. The test was performed after unloading the nuclear vapor supply systems at the fourth plant, using demineralized water before the reactor container links to the cooling pumps began.

Commenting on this achievement, the CEO of the Emirates Nuclear Energy Corporation, Mohamed Ibrahim Al Hammadi, said: “We are proud to continue to safely advance the development of Baraka stations for peaceful nuclear energy, despite the conditions that everyone faced due to the spread of the new Corona virus. As we always return, decisive and proactive guidance. By good leadership, it enabled us to take appropriate and timely actions to protect the health and safety of employees and stations.I also want to pay tribute to the efforts of the teams that have the best levels of efficiency and who have continued to work in line with the approved standards, and achieved achievement T in accordance with the highest standards of safety, quality and safety. "

With the completion of the cold water balance test at the fourth plant, we are approaching another step towards achieving our goal of providing up to 25% of the UAE's electricity needs, and supporting its future growth by providing safe, reliable and environmentally friendly electric energy.

The Emirates Nuclear Energy Corporation and (KIPCO) had successfully completed all the major construction works at the fourth plant at the end of 2019, including pouring the main concrete blocks, installing the turbine generator and the internal components of the reactor pressure vessel, which contributed to conducting detailed tests to ensure readiness.

The cold water balance test at the fourth plant is an important achievement during the development of the UAE peaceful nuclear program, after completing the loading of nuclear fuel packages at the first station during the month of March, which confirms that the UAE has become a country operating in peaceful nuclear energy, as preparations began to complete the final stages of the start Safe operation of the first plant in the coming months.

The Emirates Nuclear Energy Corporation has reached the final stages of construction work at the second, third and fourth stations, with a total completion rate of construction work on the four stations more than 94%. The completion rate in the fourth station exceeded 84%, the third station more than 92%, and the second station more than 95%.

Upon operation, the four stations will contribute to providing the national electricity network with stable supplies of safe, reliable and environmentally friendly electricity, covering 25% of the total UAE electricity needs with a total capacity of 5.6 GW, in addition to reducing 21 million tons annually of carbon dioxide, i.e. The equivalent of removing 3.2 million cars off the roads in the country every year.
