On April 16, Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin signed a decree exempting state registration of soybeans and meal for animal feed with GMOs.

The Ministry of Agriculture said that the document was developed by him on behalf of the government and aimed at supporting livestock enterprises and maintaining the level of cost of livestock products.

“The action of the decree will create a competitive environment in the GMO feed production sector and increase the number of soybeans supplied, which will positively affect the development of Russian poultry and pig farming,” the official said.

According to him, quality control will be provided by Rosselkhoznadzor.

Earlier, RBC reported that the Ministry of Agriculture did not support the proposal to suspend the Cabinet’s resolution, simplifying the import of genetically modified soybeans for feed.
