A spokesman for Emirates Airlines said that no decision has been taken and no announcement has been made by the airline about laying off a large percentage of employees as it is being circulated in a number of media outlets.
The spokesman added that any decision taken in this regard will be announced in the usual manner, but we, like other companies, requested the executive team from various departments to implement a comprehensive cost review in light of the business expectations and the current circumstance the world is witnessing.
The spokesman continued: These steps come at a time when we are preparing to gradually resume our usual activities. As directed by the company's chairman and chief executive officer, our financial stability, securing our business and maintaining our trained and qualified cadres as much as possible will remain our top priority in this period.
