According to Gao Feng, the average daily volume of meat and vegetables in the 50 large-scale agricultural and sideline products wholesale markets that are the key contacts in the country continued to exceed 200,000 tons, an increase of more than 70% compared with the beginning of February. Among them, the demand for meat has increased significantly, and the average daily transaction volume has increased by 12 times from the beginning of February and by 40% from the holiday of the Qingming Festival. On May 5, the wholesale price of pork was 42.86 yuan per kilogram, down 8.2% from the end of March. Since the end of April, various retail terminals such as supermarkets, restaurants, etc. have been intensively stocked for the “May Day” holiday, which has driven the wholesale market to continue to pick up. Gao Feng said that in the next step, the Ministry of Commerce will continue to strengthen the guidance of various circulation entities such as agricultural and sideline products wholesale markets. While implementing the normalized epidemic prevention and control measures, it will insist on ensuring market supply and promoting the sale of agricultural and sideline products. The combination of seasonal docking procurement and the establishment of a long-term mechanism will ensure the organization, storage and transportation of agricultural and sideline products, so as to better play the role of guiding production, ensuring people's livelihood and satisfying consumption.
