From May 1st to May 5th, the Ministry of Commerce's key monitoring of retail enterprises' average daily sales increased by 32.1% compared with the Qingming holiday and decreased by 6.7% over the same period last year.

The “May 5th Shopping Festival” in Shanghai launched a large-scale consumption promotion activity, focusing on monitoring the increase of 68.5% in passenger traffic in the business district.

  Sales of home appliances, daily necessities and other commodities rebounded. During the “May Day” period, the official daily monitoring of retail entrepreneurs ’average daily sales of electricity increased by 71.1% over the Qingming holiday, daily necessities increased by 53.7%, and cosmetics and clothing also increased by more than 30%.

  The catering and accommodation industries that were hit hard by the epidemic have also gradually recovered. According to official data, the consumption recovery index of the national catering and lodging industries during the May Day period increased by 18.84 and 15.25 percentage points respectively compared with the Qingming holiday.
