China News Agency, Sao Paulo, May 6 (Reporter Mo Chengxiong) China BYD has officially signed a contract for the Metro Line 17 project in Sao Paulo with the Brazilian Sao Paulo Metro Company via the Internet. This is the second rail transit line built by BYD in Brazil, after the capital of Bahia, El Salvador, crossed the sea-cloud track.

According to the agreement between the two parties, BYD will serve as the overall system provider for the Sao Paulo Metro Line 17 including 14 columns of 5 marshalling vehicles, turnouts, conductive rails, UTO-level signal systems, central control systems, engineering vehicles, car washers Including the monorail series of electromechanical products and engineering integration, installation, commissioning, training and other technical services. BYD will complete the delivery, installation, and commissioning of vehicles and systems by the end of 2023, and then transfer it to the operator. By then, the line will be officially opened to traffic.

Metro Line 17 of Sao Paulo City is a municipal line connecting Sao Paulo Congonhas Airport, downtown Sao Paulo, commercial area and residential area. The total length of the line is 17.7 kilometers, and 8.8 kilometers have been completed in the early stage.

Li Tie, general manager of BYD Brazil Branch, said that the cloud rail transportation project built by BYD in São Paulo will have an average daily passenger flow of 250,000 passengers and the fastest departure interval is 80 seconds. This puts extremely strict requirements on vehicle technology and operating system. Even more challenging is that since the first-phase infrastructure of Line 17 has been completed, in order to match the built track beams, the vehicle size needs to be specially customized and adjusted, which requires BYD to master the core technology and industrial chain.

Li Tie said that BYD and São Paulo Metro Company signed a vehicle and system supply contract, and the related project plans, design and other related work were carried out in China in the early stage, and were not affected by the current new coronary pneumonia epidemic. In Brazil, the partner Sao Paulo Metro Company has been working normally and has not taken a holiday. (Finish)
