NMC Trading, a subsidiary of NMC Healthcare, has laid off more than 300 employees, Gulf News reported today.
NMC Trading is the arm that deals with the distribution of medical equipment and brands for personal care, with a further number of jobs expected to follow.
A spokesperson for NMC Healthcare said: "The priority of the management team is to stabilize the core work of the [NMC Center] and ensure continuity of care in hospitals and medical centers.
The newspaper pointed out, "Speculation indicates that preparations are currently being made to sell" NMC "for trade, which over the past three decades has become one of the largest distributors in the field of medical equipment supply in the UAE, enjoying the distribution rights of some of the most famous brands from all over the world, These include 3M, Nestle, Unilever, Nivea, Pfizer, Siemens, Samsung, Sanofi, Kiwi, Berylcrim, Henkel, and others.
