The Government has detailed the 12 economic sectors - among which are businesses such as bakeries, hairdressers, plumbing works or heating installation - that may request suspension for six months without interest from the payment of social contributions in May, June and July .

According to the order published this Wednesday by the Official State Gazette (BOE), and which details who can apply for this measure approved at the end of March, this moratorium may be requested by companies and the self-employed in the following activities: crops, printing and graphic arts, metal carpentry, plumbing, installation of heating and air conditioning systems or carpentry installation .

It also includes non-specialized retail trade, shops with a predominance of food products, beverages and tobacco trade or bakeries, confectioneries and pastry shops, advertising agencies, dental activities, hairdressing and other beauty treatments.

The moratorium will allow the self-employed and companies whose activity corresponds to the CNAE codes of these activities to request the suspension of the employer quotas of their workers for a period of six months without any interest .

If the moratorium is granted, payments to be made in May will be paid in November and so on with the rest of the monthly payments.

Companies must request the moratorium between the 1st and 10th of the month in which they would have to face the payment to the General Treasury of Social Security through the RED system.

In the case of self-employed workers who are not authorized by RED, they may use the Social Security electronic headquarters service.

For the rest of the companies and the self-employed, whose activity is not among those indicated, the Government recalls that they can request a deferment of social contributions with an interest rate of 0.5%, seven times lower than usual for the payments due. perform in the months of April, May and June.

These initiatives are part of the package of measures that the Government has launched in the face of the COVID-19 pandemic.
