Start domestic production of Daio Paper Mask 18:11 April 27th

Daio Paper Co., Ltd., a major paper manufacturer, will manufacture masks at the paper diaper factory in Tochigi Prefecture from the end of this month, and will start selling them to general households in the summer.

Daio Paper has been manufacturing masks overseas until now, but we have invested approximately 200 million yen to install mask production equipment at the paper diaper factory in Tochigi Prefecture and begin domestic production.

From the end of this month, the production will start at a rate of 4 million pieces per month, and will be given priority to supply to hospitals and other medical institutions and nursing facilities.

After that, we plan to further increase our production facilities to increase the production volume to 26 million pieces a month in July, and start selling to general households.

Daio Paper says, "In order to supply masks to people who need them as soon as possible despite the shortage of masks, we have decided to start production in Japan."

As masks continue to run short, the paper industry has also announced that Oji Holdings will install mask production equipment at its subsidiary's domestic plant to produce 2 million sheets per month.
