The drop in gas prices "is 0.3% for customers who use gas for cooking, 0.7% for those who have dual use, cooking and hot water, and 1.3% for homes that heat with gas ", details the Energy Regulatory Commission (CRE).

Regulated sales prices (TRV) for gas, applied by Engie to millions of French households, will drop by 1.3% on May 1, the regulator announced on Monday. "This decrease is 0.3% for customers who use gas for cooking, 0.7% for those who have dual use, cooking and hot water, and 1.3% for homes that heat gas, "says the Energy Regulatory Commission (CRE).

Gas prices down on the market

This decrease reflects that of Engie's supply costs on the market, where gas prices are declining. The Energy and Climate Law promulgated last November provides for the gradual extinction by 2023 of these gas TRVs, which are set by the public authorities and had been deemed contrary to European law by the Council of State. In the future, there will only be so-called market offers, at prices freely set by the suppliers.

Less than 4 million individuals still have a gas contract at the TRVs. But since November 20, Engie has stopped marketing new contracts of this type.
