Guest of Europe 1 Monday morning, the Minister for the Ecological and Inclusive Transition, Elisabeth Borne, returned to Medef's request for the establishment of a "moratorium" on the implementation of environmental measures, in this period of crisis sanitary and economic. "I say no to this moratorium," she replied on Europe 1, saying that to oppose "economy and ecology" was a "vision that is both dangerous and outdated".

INTERVIEW

In the midst of a health crisis, in this letter addressed to the Minister of Ecological Transition Élisabeth Borne and signed by its president Geoffroy Roux de Bézieux, Medef "requested a moratorium on the preparation of new energy and environmental provisions", linked to the law on the fight against waste and the circular economy. Guest of Europe 1 Monday, Elisabeth Borne categorically refused this request. "Let me tell you very clearly: the ecological emergency is still there," she said.

"A vision that is both dangerous and outdated"

"I refused this request for a moratorium, which was a mistake," said Minister of the Ecological Transition Élisabeth Borne. "More broadly, opposing economy and ecology is a vision that is both dangerous and outdated," she said. "To say: 'ecology we will see later' is dangerous because later it will be too late and it is out of date because the ecological transition is a solution for growth", thus justifying its position. " I say no to this moratorium ", summarizes Élisabeth Borne.

"I understand that companies can be in complicated situations at the moment so we can adjust consultation schedules. This is what we are going to do on a certain number of subjects," she nevertheless specified.

Don't "choose between protecting jobs and protecting the planet"

"There can be no pause in the ecological transition," said the minister, saying that, according to her, "it will be the best strategy, both for protection and for growth, to emerge from the crisis".

"We cannot have to choose between protecting jobs and protecting the planet: we have to do both. And that is what we are going to do", she concluded, recalling at the end of the interview that " the ecological transition has proven that it can support employment. "
