Invited to the Matinee of Europe, the president of the group Les Républicains au Sénat, Bruno Retaillau, indicated that he was in favor of an increase in the working time of the French at the end of confinement, to cope with the consequences of a economic crisis which "is going to be huge".

Will we have to work more out of containment? During the Easter weekend, the president of Medef Geoffroy Roux de Bézieux estimated that it would be necessary "sooner or later to ask the question of working time, public holidays and paid vacation to accompany the economic recovery, and facilitate, by working a little bit more, creating additional growth. " Since then, the debate has animated the entire political spectrum, and on the right, if the vice-president of the Republicans Guillaume Peltier affirms that it was necessary "to speak first of the salary", Bruno Retailleau indicates that he thinks that " 'we could go to the 37 hours paid 37 ".

At the microphone of Europe 1, the president of the group Les Républicains explains his position by the harshness of the economic crisis which will follow the health crisis of the coronavirus. "The current crisis is going to be huge. We are going to lose maybe 10% of growth this year, the wealth that is destroyed is extraordinarily important," he said.

"You can only get out of a bad situation by extra effort"

"For the last crisis (the subprime crisis in 2008-2009, note ), we had regained our level of wealth before the crisis four or five years later," recalls Bruno Retailleau. "There, it could take a whole decade," he warns at the microphone of Europe 1. "We only get out of a bad way, in our personal and collective experiences, by an increase in effort", concludes the patron of LR senators, reaffirming that it is for the establishment of "37 hours paid 37".
