Health, food chain, transport or even IT: the coronavirus crisis has led to the emergence of recruitment needs in certain sectors of activity despite a “historic” decline in hiring since the start of confinement and weakened economic activity. Reports of hiring on CDI or CDD for more than a month plunged 22.6% in March to around 6.1 million, a "historic monthly decline", according to figures released this week by the Agency. central of social security organizations (Acoss).

Combined effect of the health crisis and its corollary, confinement, the reduction in the number of hires even reaches half a million (around 531,000) including short-term contracts. However, while partial unemployment today concerns nearly one in two private sector workers - 10.2 million people -, certain sectors are continuing to recruit.

Which sectors are recruiting?

On a panel of fifteen sites, the number of offers published from April 10 to 16 "goes back to 80% of the pre-containment level" when it reached only 60% in the last three weeks, according to the weekly summary of the Dares (statistics service of the Ministry of Labor). A recovery "strongly driven by the medical field".

"The sectors that show the most recruitment needs at the moment are logically those on the front line facing the health crisis: the field of health, social action and personal assistance," explains AFP. Pôle emploi's director of business services. "Then, in the second line, there are those who contribute to the food chain, such as the food trade, the agrifood industry and agriculture," continues Catherine Poux. On the mobilemploi.gouv.fr platform, set up in early April by Pôle emploi and which compiles offers in the "essential" sectors - health, food, transport, logistics, home help or telecommunications -, more than 13,000 job offers Jobs were available Friday.

Highly sought after psychologists

From April 2 to 17, the platform enabled nearly 3,500 recruitments out of 5,000 closed offers, with a "relative balance" between fixed-term contracts and seasonal contracts on the one hand, and permanent contracts on the other, said Pôle emploi at l 'AFP. "We note a strong demand for nursing staff in nursing homes and hospitals but also and above all for psychologists", underlines the manager of Pôle Emploi in Guingamp (Côtes d'Armor), Bertrand Quemard.

"We also see that construction companies are gradually starting to rely on job offers to prepare for the post-health crisis," he adds, construction being with trade and catering, one of the three sectors most affected by partial unemployment.

Increased demand for IT

The Association for the employment of executives (Apec) reported in recent days an overall drop of 40% in the number of vacancies for executives in a month. For its part, the Ministry of Labor notes that it has returned to 68% of its pre-crisis level, thanks in particular to IT. “All of the internet strata are being used right now with telework. There is increased demand during the crisis. The need for continuity for data centers does not only exist in times of crisis but corresponds more generally to the transformation needs of society, ”notes Yann Lechelle, CEO of Scaleway.

This subsidiary of the Iliad group, specializing in the cloud (computer servers), continues recruiting during the confinement period with more than 60 open positions mainly on permanent contracts and ten more already filled. A majority concerns the trades of computer scientists and developers, "traditionally more managerial oriented".

For Coralie Rachet, director-general of the recruitment firm Robert Walters, “there is an awareness of companies that want to depend less on subcontractors. They therefore strengthen their recruitment (on permanent contracts) on highly strategic functions ”.
