Dubai Export Development Corporation, a Dubai economic institution, has said that it has received 48 diversified applications in the field of industrial and export support since mid-March 2020, linked to the implications of the emerging corona virus (Covid 19).

She assured «Emirates Today» that it is working to link exporters to international companies, through the strategic partners of the Foundation, and through its offices, to provide various raw materials to support the local industry.

The Executive Director of the Dubai Export Development Corporation, Eng. Saed Al-Awadi, told «Emirates Today» that the Foundation has worked since the beginning of the outbreak of the new “Corona” virus globally, to discuss the potential for business continuity at the level of the institution and the customer community, by providing several channels to meet the needs of Dealers without any influence.

He added that the Foundation is fully aware of the challenges facing the sectors during this epidemic, pointing out that meetings were held with a group of factories to discuss the sustainability of production and provide everything necessary to support the industrial sector.

He continued: "We worked to provide all capabilities for employees to provide services to customers, and work remotely naturally without interruption, as if it was through the headquarters of the institution."

Al-Awadhi explained: “Since the foundation’s inception, we have been working closely with customers, and the nature of the work necessitates the provision of communication channels around the clock, as we are linked to international markets, in addition to the network of commercial offices supervised by the institution and spread over 24 international cities.”

He stressed that "Dubai Export Development" examines the needs of the sector through interconnection with the various sectors in the emirate and the state in general, pointing out that the export sector and the industrial sector are complementary with several sectors, especially those related to shipping of various kinds, and customs clearance.

International programs

Al-Awadi said that there is direct communication with the local and federal bodies for continuous coordination to deal with the repercussions of this epidemic, which are coordinated continuously to serve important sectors, in addition to the continued support for our international programs related to international institutions, such as the "Women in International Trade" program for the Middle East and North Africa, And which is supervised by the Foundation, pointing out that the important topics of businesswomen in the international work are dealt with over a month, as of April 14, 2020 through holding six workshops organized by the International Trade Center, and the participants of the program, centered on the implications of the epidemic, will participate. Al-Awadi stressed that the Foundation deals with various requests naturally, and works to support customers in this difficult stage.
