Stopped since March 17 due to the coronavirus epidemic, the vast majority of French companies will not resume before May 11, the date until which containment has been extended. A blow that risks worsening economic forecasts.

Interviewed by BFMTV, on Tuesday, Bruno Le Maire, the Minister of the Economy, said that the government expected an 8% drop in gross domestic product in France in 2020. "We will have a growth forecast which will be set at -8% for the amending finance bill, "said the Minister.

"Each week of confinement (...) actually worsens public finances"

France should also experience a public deficit around 9% of gross domestic product (GDP) this year and a debt of 115%, announced Tuesday the Minister of Public Accounts Gérald Darmanin.

"We are going to go from -7.6% deficit to -9%" and "-115% debt very certainly", says Gérald Darmanin, Minister of Action and Public Accounts
