Flydubai affirmed its continuous support to the governments and the competent authorities and through its growing network through its efforts and assistance in making the necessary arrangements for their citizens to return to their homes, noting that it operated 23 return trips to different countries carrying more than 2,800 passengers from the UAE within 20 days of the period between Last March 19 and the eighth of this April.

The company said in a statement yesterday that the return flights were operated to each of Afghanistan, Croatia, Egypt, Iran, Russia, Sudan, Somaliland and Thailand, after the approval of the General Authority of Civil Aviation and civil aviation authorities in the countries concerned and foreign ministries.

She added that these flights were transported from Building (No. 2) at Dubai International Airport only traveling abroad from the UAE, while Emirati citizens are allowed to travel on return trips to the country.

The carrier indicated that it also with these flights shipped basic goods in the cargo hold of the plane and in both directions, with the aim of supporting trade and transporting medical supplies through its network during these unprecedented times.

It stated that it will operate up to 10 other return flights during the next week, while it will continue to coordinate closely with the authorities to return Emirati citizens for free.

"We are aware of the scale of the challenges we all face in dealing with the (Corona) epidemic and its impact not only on our industry, but on our lives as a whole," said Hamad Obaidullah, Chief Commercial Officer, flydubai.

He added, "The company chose to remain focused on how to contribute to relieving pressure, enabling the movement of basic commodities to where they are needed and returning people to their home countries wherever possible."

“We look forward to the resumption of our operations when the time is right, and we work closely with the authorities, as the safety of our travelers and all members of the (Dubai) family is always our top priority,” Obaidullah added.

He emphasized that "flydubai" follows the directions issued by the World Health Organization and local health authorities, pointing out that the carrier adopts deep cleaning and disinfection operations, including all its planes.
