While the French are living their fourth week of confinement, the sending of packages has not weakened. It is even increasing sharply, notes Philippe Wahl, president of the Post, on Europe 1, indicating that, "even in the middle of the Christmas period", there has never been so many parcels received.

If the Post initially reduced its activity due to the coronavirus, one of its sectors sees its activity increasing strongly, it is the delivery of parcels. And for good reason, the other deliverers having stopped their activity, the post office finds itself alone to distribute these parcels.

"The Post is at the service of the customers of local communities of companies, of the whole of France", welcomes Philippe Wahl, President of the Post, guest of Matthieu Belliard on Europe 1. "Insofar as other deliverers of parcels have stopped we do not see very strong declines in demand for parcel delivery and we are ensuring our leadership role with Colissimo and Chronopost ", he adds, adding that these two services had respectively delivered more than 15 and 7 million packages.

"50,000 packages were thus deposited in mailbox on Wednesday"

If the French do not write more letters during confinement, many of them receive or send packages. "There have never been so many shipments, which shows that we are at the service of everyone, everywhere in the country," insists Philippe Wahl, who indicates that it is possible to send his parcel simply by dropping it off in its own mailbox.

"50,000 packages were thus deposited in mailbox on Wednesday from personal mailboxes and from laposte.fr," he said. "Even in the middle of the Christmas period, we have never received so many of these parcels through people's mailboxes." "It's a record to beat," concludes the president of the Post.
